Traditional Thai Massage
Thai Massage combines stretching, acupressure, and energy work, prioritizing flexibility and energy balance.

Thai Massage in the Thai language is Nuad Bo-Rarn, meaning “ancient massage” or “ancient healing way.”

It is a holistic approach to bodywork that has been in practice for over 2500 years.  It combines influences from Indian Ayurvedic practices, Chinese medicine, and traditional Thai healing techniques. It's a unique blend that sets it apart from other massage styles around the world. The aim is to open and allow flow through the energy lines, know as Sen, and to balance the body system.

Thai Massage is classically a full body treatment.  The practitioner uses their own Sen to interact with those of the client’s, including therapeutic touch with fingers, palms, forearms, knees, etc. by pressing, kneading, rubbing, traction and stretching, while the client remains in relaxed yoga-like postures.

There is a priority on flexibility and energy balance.  It is a soft-tissue therapy including acupressure techniques, energy work, and is deeply meditative.

You will...

  • Learn in traditional apprenticeship style classes with low teacher-to-student ratio.

  • Give and receive directly from teachers to perfect your technique.

  • Leave with working knowledge of this modality, ready to practice right away.

A Letter from June:

"To describe Thai Massage as just “massage,” is too simplistic.  That is why my preference is to call what we will offer from the many forms, traditions and regions of Thailand and Burma, as “Thai Therapy.”

The depth of these modalities trace back into ancient times. Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine are at its roots. Mind, body and spirit can not be separated.

This training is a map to unlock the secrets in each body through your senses.  Understanding this is where we begin. This training is not for everyone. We move into the universal space of healing from a much higher center, combining both Western medicine, as well as ancient eastern practices.

It has been my love to open into these realms for 35 years.  I understand that I am only the vessel. The universe led me on this journey. There were times I fought it, scared of what was being shown to me. But inevitably choosing trust. It has been the only way.

I now trust again that if you are called to this practice and committed to a deeper learning, you shall choose from that yearning."

Namaste,  June Round

June's journey began over 35 yrs ago. She quit her career in the fashion industry, sold everything she owned and headed for Thailand just because a friend mentioned the words Thai massage. Masters in this art to study under was all she searched for.

Traveling all through Thailand and Myanmar she found many different forms.

Eventually coming back to Canada and settling in Calgary, she not only started a business dedicated only to Thai massage but started a school.

She now teaches at the Canadian Institute of Chinese Medicine and private lessons.

In her career as a Thai practitioner she has had the privilege of massaging stars like Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Joan Jett and worked with Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan band, Van Morrison band and many more.

Other modalities June is trained in include:

  • Auricular Therapy

  • Manual Manipulations of the Cranium as part of Chirodontics®

  • Touch Therapy*

  • Tuning forks

All of which she incorporates into Thai Therapy.

*Touch Therapy is a special therapy where you connect the energy centers of the brain with different parts of the body by tapping and breathing.

"My career focus growing up was entirely geared towards Mechanical Engineering.  One summer while travelling, I came across someone who would change my life forever. After getting to know me quite well, she told me one day that she had received a message:

“Spirit told me I am to teach you Thai Massage”

I thought to myself: “what on Earth is Thai Massage???” - I had never received professional bodywork of any kind, and was not from a touchy-feely family!

After completing my travels, I decided to follow my own intuition and continue to get outside of my comfort zone.  I quit my job, my career path, collapsed my worldly possessions and moved across the country to apprentice in Thai Massage with June Round. It has been a magical spiritual journey of awakening ever since.

I went to study in Thailand - first tracing back my lineage, and then apprenticing with new teachers who inspired me.

They say that to begin, one must apprentice for 21 years.

Later I trained with Dr.Bob Walker & Dr.Kaye McArthur. Their approach to headaches and manual manipulations of the cranium for dentistry are revolutionary and highly effective.

I am compelled to share the medicine of massage and feel the responsibility of passing it on for future generations."

Here's what other people had to say:

I am so grateful for the gift of having Kris as my teacher in learning the art of Thai massage for 6 weeks while being in Mexico. What she taught goes way beyond what you can experience in any regular massage schools and also the intimate group made the experience very unique and life-changing. Thai massage is a true healing art that helps the physical and energetic body to reconnect and find it‘s whole, harmonious energetic flow again.

Kris dedication, peaceful strong presence as well as her immense patience, really helped to dive deep into the ancient teachings and learn about the body and the flow of energy in a profound way. The routines that she taught us enable me to give up to 5h massages (really did that for the exam). As the class was so rich, I now am able to tune into my clients body and really pick the movements that suit the individual needs of my clients best.

I highly recommend to learn with Kris. She is such an incredible instructor!
